A Pox On You!

Well, chicken pox has hit our home. Kristin started breaking out Tuesday night. I just thought it was a rash (she always has one of some sort), but the next morning there were a few more spots and had a low grade temp. I went ahead and sent her to school with a note for the nurse. The nurse called around 8:30, said K's temp was 100 and she was pretty certain it was the pox. By the time I picked her up, she'd broken out even more. So, she has been going to work with me, but staying upstairs where we store stuff (there's a tv, games and all kinds of things for her to do up there). K has had the shot and even a booster several months ago, and I guess that is keeping her case mild. She has about 30 spots and has been running a temp, but only around 100-101. Last night I gave her an oatmeal bath, which grossed her out...she kept saying she couldn't believe she was sitting in food! She was up and down all last night and didn't sleep well, so I came home early from work today and she went right to bed. That's a sure sign she's not her normal self. We are praying that she will be better by Saturday night so that she can go to Fall fest at church and do some trick-or-treating.

Last night we ate at Zaxby's before K's soccer game. As she got ready to sit down in the booth, she looked at the napkin and straw wrapper in the seat and proclaimed "Some people have no respect!"

It was so cold at the game last night. Purple Dynamite won 3-0. Kristin got to play forward for the last quarter, which was interesting since she is usually a fullback. I think she was confused and kept trying to switch back to fullback, but she finally got in there and went after the ball. The girls all did great, even with 4 of the girls not there. I think the rest of the games are going to be chilly! We came home after the game and made hot cocoa...the good stovetop kind.

Here are some of Kristin's fall pictures. My scanner isn't working so I just took pictures of the pictures. So they don't look the greatest! But I was happy with how all of her pictures turned out. I remember a few years ago when she never smiled for her pictures and was scared to death of the photographer. Oh how things have changed. Now she's asking for him to take MORE pictures!

Pictures and Tea

Today Kristin had her fall pictures taken at Main Street. I can't wait to see the proofs, they will be so cute. She was really posing and having fun. When she was little she was so scared to have her picture taken and was crying in pretty much all her pictures. But now....she has definitley gotten over all of that!

After pictures we had lunch at the English Tea Room. It is owned by a British couple and they serve traditional English teas and food. We had Irish breakfast tea, the soup of the day (homemade chicken, potato and bacon), and crumpets with strawberries. It was SO GOOD! Kristin loved it and I think this will become a monthly "girls getaway" for us. Next time I want to try the vanilla and carmel tea and yorkshire pudding!

I think we are going to spend the rest of the day just hanging around the house. Krisitn wants to go out and practice soccer later. She informed me that the games are a whole lot more fun than practice!

First Soccer Game and Trip to the Dentist

Kristin had her first soccer game tonight. Actually the first game was on Monday, but she came home with a migraine, so she missed it. I also had a migraine, Chris had a bad headache and the coach's wife had a migraine too. Something must've been in the air. Anyway, here are a few pics from the game. I don't have any of her playing because I was too busy yelling! It was a really good game and ended in a tie, 3-3. Our coach is also our preacher, and I'm wondering if he'll have a voice to preach with on Sunday! Once Kristin figured out what she was supposed to do, she did great. She is a fullback and did great "keeping the yard clean"!!!

Yesterday K also went to the dentist to get her teeth cleaned and check on her bottom teeth, whcih are coming in behind the baby teeth. She didn't have any cavitites and the dentist is going to wait a few months to see if the teeth come out on their own since they are loose. If not, he'll pull them. He also said she might have to have something put on her top four teeth to change their position. Apparently it's affecting her bite and her bottom teeth.

What else have we been doing? Kristin has started AWANA and just loves it! She's already memorized her verse for next week and cannot wait to get the Sparks vest. I just love our church...very laid back and the kids have fun! Growing up my church was very conservative and I did not like going. So, I'm glad Kristin is going to have a different experience.

Tomorrow K is getting her picture taken and then we are going to The English Tea Room for tea and dessert. I haven't been yet, but have heard great things about it. It's owned by a British couple and they serve traditional teas, sandwiches, and desserts. Kristin is excited and wants to get all dressed up for our "tea party"!

Next week I'll be going to the Arkansas Early Childhood Conference in Hot Springs. Chris is taking a few days off work. I wonder what kind of trouble he and K will manage to get into.....

Hope everyone is having a great week. I LOVE this fall weather!
